Success Stories
CES ROCKS!!!!
Coach Jenny,
I was searching CES on facebook and came across the fan page which asked for CES success stories. Here's mine:
After contemplating a half marathon, I joined the CES Spring training program. My main motivation was to strengthen my heart. I come from a family of heart issues. In fact, my father died at age 52; my paternal grandfather died at the age 56; and my maternal grandfather died at the age of 52 - all of massive heart attacks.
In my quest to better health, I decided to run both the Half and Full marathons during 2010. I wasn't sure how I was going to do it, but I knew I had to do it. In January of 2010, I decided it was now or never. I researched training groups and learned about CES. So, I registered for Spring training 2010 towards the Half Marathon.
Despite cold, snowy, and down-right miserable conditions, I religiously met with my CES family and went for those long runs. I met some of the greatest people ever. In my pace group, there was a special events manager, surgeon, gerontological nurse, grammar school teacher, and a supply chain customer service manager. I had a well diverse pace group. And, more importantly, they were fun! I looked forward to meeting them week after week. Now, at the beginning of week 13, I've completed my last long run in preparation to run my first half marathon on May 2nd. I couldn't have done it without my CES family. I am grateful to CES for the support and knowledge of the leaders of CES.
CES ROCKS!!!!
I love you guys. Thanks for everything.
Sincerely,
De-Anthony King
Biggest Loser Bernie Salazar finished his first marathon with the help of CES and so can you!
CES Changes Lives
"I've been thinking about the four of you all day! I told Jenny this yesterday, but had to tell you all again: you change lives! That was an amazing race and I had a wonderful time. I feel so proud of the accomplishment — I would never have thought I could enjoy a marathon so much (especially after 2007!). You help all of us in CES achieve things we never thought we could do. I ran yesterday with many first timers who were amazing and did so well. But know that it is all of you who have empowered so many of us and for that we will always be grateful. And seeing Mike's smiling face at mile 25 was really a great bonus — and I was still smiling Mike wasn't I? (At least, that's how I remember it!) Thanks so much." — Charlotte, CES Alumni
Congratulations to CES marathon runner Manny Covarrubias who has in a year's time lost 77 pounds through running and making changes in his diet
Manny met Coach Jenny on the running path a year ago while he was just starting his running career. He ran along side one of the CES pace groups and had so much fun he joined Winter Warriors. Since then, he's had a personal record in every race he's run (including yesterday's Chicago Half Marathon where he clocked a sub- 2-hour performance) and he even ran on a Madison-to-Chicago Relay Team in June.
He is an inspiration to us all and a wonderful role model for his daughter Brianna (pictured above, click image to enlarge). A big thank you to his athletic supporter and wife Lisa too! Keep it up Manny... The miles just keep getting better.
