Katie Fischer
Kathryn (Katie) Fischer
Katie, the second oldest of four girls, started her passion for sports at a very young age. Her family grew up on one of the local parks on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Her sisters along with their neighbors could be found outside playing anything from running bases to a pickup basketball game. Her parents encouraged all their children to be involved in some type of extracurricular activity. They all quickly gravitated towards athletics and found themselves to be some of the most talented kids in the neighborhood playing on multiple teams across various sports.
To encourage Katie to remain competitive against her classmates, whose height seems to have stalled, her mom recommended she join the cross-country team. Quickly Katie fell in love with the comradery of the team, but the challenging and individualist nature of the sport is what truly had Katie hooked. Competing at the varsity level as a freshman allowed Katie to develop the skills of pack running, and a fondness for distances.
Since her running career started, she has transformed her passion for running into the lifestyle of an endurance athlete. Katie has completed 3 full Ironman, a dozen half Ironman and marathons, and countless amounts of other triathlons and road races.
Since receiving her USA Triathlon license Katie has helped all varieties of athletes achieve their goals. She has coached beginner athletes trying to tackle their first 5K through experienced athletes competing in the World Championship Ironman race in Kona.
Katies sweet spot for coaching is encouraging new athletes to remember their why, pushing through their own personal boundaries, and committing to their choices.
When not coaching you can often find Katie with her family. Professionally Katie works in Financial Services and holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics.
