FAQ & POLICIES
How many miles should I be able to run before training begins?
If you can run a mile, this program will work for you. It is a flexible program where you choose your distance based on where you are at in your running or run/walking.
What kind of experience do I need to join the group runs?
This program is designed for those new to running, those returning to running after a break or those that have been running lower mileages. The goal is to make this program work for you. Your CES coaches will help you choose the correct training plan, based on your fitness experience & goals.
What kind of equipment/gear do I need to join?
A quality pair of running shoes is a must. Be sure that your top, bottom and socks are NOT cotton. Breathable fabric blends like dry fit and coolmax pull the sweat from your bottom and are less likely to cause chafing. Take advantage of the wonderful sales staff at Fleet Feet Chicago to help you to get fitted for shoes and to find the perfect running clothes based on the weather. As the mileage increases, you will also need a hydration system. This can be a hand held bottle or a waist belt. You will also need reflective gear to keep you visible during our evening speed workouts. Again, the helpful staff at Fleet Feet Chicago can point you in the right direction.
Will there be pacers?
There will not be pacers, but there will be a coach & experienced mentors that will assist in helping you to find the perfect pace for you.
How will I know how much to run and when?
You will receive a PDF schedule that will lay out what each day of training will look like. You will also receive a FREE membership to TrainingPeaks. This is an online training system that will also show you what your daily workout will consist of. It will provide more detailed explanations of each run/workout.
What if I can’t do the run/walk interval?
Do what works for you. You can work with the coach to find the interval that works best for you and your ability level.
What is the minimum age to participate in a training program?
Athletes must be 18 years old to participate.
Can I participate with a stroller or pet?
For the safety of all participants, strollers & pets are NOT allowed at group training sessions.
What is the weather policy for cancelling group training?
We like to prepare for all types of conditions (rain, snow, wind, etc.) as you never know what it might be on race day. However, if there are conditions that could potentially put the participants or staff in danger (such as lightning, extreme heat or extreme cold), we will cancel or postpone training. For complete details and weather alerts, visit HERE.
What is the Refund/Cancellation policy?
No refunds or credits will be provided in full or in part for any reason, including injury, illness or race cancellation/changes. No prorated fees are provided for late enrollments. Race entry fees are NOT included in training fees.
Are Race Entry Fees included in training program fees?
Race entry fees & race registration are NOT included in training program fees and are the responsibility of the participant.
I have additional questions - who can I contact?
